Thirsty for justice: tri-border kayak protest

At 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, 30 August, citizens of Poland, Germany, and Czechia will gather at Three - nation point and some of them will make their way down the Neisse River, protesting the damage to local water, air, soil and climate by the Turów mine.

The Polish lignite mine has worked illegally from 1st May 2020. The owner, company PGE, got the licence for another 6 years mining without public participation and even plans to expand the mine which is threatening water supplies for thousands of local citizens across borders, contaminates rivers, soil and air, and eats up people’s homes. This must come to an end.

Join the action by foot or with a kayak and support our call for a rapid transition away from destructive mining, towards a clean, sustainable future for the impacted transnational region.

We will meet at 12:00 at the Tripoint, where we will hear from people from all three countries, as well as a delegation of the European Union. After the demonstration the kayak trip down the Nysa River will take place. It will last 3 hours. The kayak flotilla will begin at the Tripoint, and finish at Hirschfelde.

If you want to join with your own kayak or want to borrow one for free, please register until 25 August here:

We will ensure Covid-19 and water safety measures.
